Powdery Dreamland

The New // The Old

It's hard to say for sure why I haven't written to this blog of mine in so so long. But I would say that it has something to do about where my mind has been since my last post (which was a little over a year ago).

My last post was about the passing of my first dog. And it was not because of his passing that I have been in a slightly confused, un-Dailyn mentality. But I would say that particular event started a year of... to put it nicely, "growing up". And, thinking about it, I realize that I didn't want to share the more detailed portions of my own "angsty, coming-of-age indie documentary".

But here I am again! In my mind, my personality, and my blog. Back to the Dailyn that I've worked hard to gain back in the past few months.

And back to the spontaneous adventures. Whether they involve my van (known as The Bean) or a backpack or a friend or my family or an airplane... well shoot, I don't usually know until the last minute.

Here's to the new (old?) me.
The new/old me who tries not to be a complete loner, but still usually ends up canceling all of her plans to hike alone.
The new/old me who can't imagine a life without mountains or hiking boots.
The new/old me who may or may not talk to her dog like he will someday start talking back.
And to the new/old me who is always striving for a Chaco tan, but knows its a lost cause due to the fact that I really don't tan. (And the old me who has never stopped going off on tangents...)

Here's to the new parts all of us strive for and their symbiotic relationship with the old parts of us.

All mashed up together in a beautifully chaotic medley.

3:43pm

I just got home from work, shove a few garments in a duffel bag and take Trevor outside to go to the bathroom. I'm so excited to head back home in Morrison for a few days and hang out with the family, plus a few extra family members that are visiting from out of town.

3:48pm

Text from mom: "Can you talk?"

This threw me off. Very curt and unlike the way my mom usually texts.

3:49pm

I call mom.

"Hey hun."

"Hey mom, how are you guys?!"

"Not good sweetie."

"What? Why not?"

*Crying*

"What's the matter mom?"

"Honey, Suvan died today."
