Oh Sh*t!

As you may or may not know, I looooove to longboard. And it is Spring, which means that longboard season is in effect... just for the record, longboard season is 3 seasons long.. even with some of Winter included.
I digress... as usual.

So I have been longboarding every chance I get since Spring has arrived. On a chilly day, in a dress, barefoot, on the way to the coffee shop... you get the idea.
One of my favorite places is Wash Park in Denver. And it's super convenient because it's about 3 minutes from where I work three days per week. It's got this wide, paved loop around some pretty ponds, sprawling fields, big trees, and tennis courts. It can get kind of full of cyclists and joggers, but for the most part it's smooth sailing during my skates.

So I go and hit up Wash Park after work this evening - leggings, vans, a big tee... I'm ready for some serious skating.
Earphones in.
The Dirty Heads on.
I take off and keep up a fast pace.
Or, I don't know, at least it felt fast when the wind was in my face...

Cruising cruising... on my second loop now and it's getting dark. People are dispersing and my cruising is getting even easier as I have the path mostly to myself.

I'm carving pretty hardcore down a hill and in my own happy little world when suddenly I realize there is someone next to me and matching my speed.

I look over to see a cyclist on a road bike smiling at me. A pretty handsome feller, I must say. I smile back and give a giggle out of embarrassment for my oblivious nature.

"Is that an Arbor?" He asks with a large, attractive grin on his face.

(For any of you who may not know, Arbor is a brand of longboard. And the only brand I'll ever own, just for the record.)

"Sure is! An Arbor Koa Pintail. Do you ride?" I respond through a smile.

"I do! I love longboarding!"

Now we're going up a steep hill and even though I'm pumping hard, he still has to slow his speed to match mine.

Then he says, "I really like seeing someone who just flows, you know? You just feel it. It's awesome."

I try to outwardly appreciate the compliment, but all that happens is:

*wheezing*
                             *inhale*
                                                   "Oh thanks!"
                                                                                 *smile*
                                                                                                        *wheezing*
                                                                                                                                    *exhale*

I look up ahead of us and see a group of guys longboarding towards us and also totally smiling at me.

Gosh dern it. Stop looking so out of shape, Dailyn! I know you just booked it up a hill, but that is NO excuse in front of this many good-lookin' guys.

Right as the man on the bike is smiling over at me again and the group of longboarding men get within about 10 feet of me
                                                                       *SPLAT!*

A nice, big, white, juicy goose shit comes falling from the sky drops right on the collar of my shirt.

Yep, that just happened.
The longboarders giggle as they pass by and the cyclist tries to act like it never happened although I can see a chuckle escape the side of his smile. It took me a minute to realize what happened and as soon as I do I just start laughing laughing laughing... but by the time this happens, both the cyclist and the longboarders are gone... So I'm skating by myself under the streetlights and laughing out loud, definitely drawing the concerned attention from a few walkers.

Oh it was a good night for me. Just uppin' my "player" status. ;)

Aloha ke akua.
